*having mailboxes installed in the mail room; assigning students a mailbox thus creating enthusiasm as students retrieve gifts, mail, and admission letters, etc. This is assigned for 4-years without changing. Sense of belonging.
*put someone over the arts that will press-the-limits; someone that is happy to be the leader of a great university and who gets out and shakes hands in the community. Invites the community and attracts students who want to build a healthy ART program.
*For the attention needed in Sports: we need to have a weekly 30 min PEP RALLY in the Quad.
*A dance class (something FUN) in the evening (about 4:45) would benefit students, staff and faculty. This would improve morale and enthusiasm.|

Constantly remembering that students are the reason we ultimately accepted our position, and one that will determine our future more so than any other factor.
To personally see to every students need that we can help with, and if our resources are lacking, to provide a direct connection to the person that can help. Not just throw the student in the general direction (department) of help and hope they hit the area that can best help them, like a dart-board.|

I have seen the recruiter schedules and where they go. Money is being spent on plane tickets and hotel rooms all over the country for what? Kids in California to come to Alexandria, Louisiana?! That is just crazy!!! Students who are here are struggling to graduate because our resources and fundings are going elsewhere. I have had to change my major three times because the classes and resources stopped being available or there became a lack of resources to keep it going. I also think we keep an extremely poor watch over our arts programs here. Some students want to stay close to home and still pursue their creative talents but LSUA neglects them. Why did we spend thousands on a darkroom that cannot be used? Why not let the students who want to learn get to learn it? We are a small school, so we may not have enough people to make a class, but we are also throwing away money by not using the equipment that was bought and put here. So let those students learn, have a 3 person class.|

With some relatively simple changes faculty and staff can change what is sometimes a stressful, anxiety provoking environement into a much more relaxed and positive learning environment for all students. Students who experience symptoms related to "hidden disabilites" are oftne unable to maximize their academic performance because of anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, fear, etc...because the classroom is set up so that they are required to sit in a certain location in the room, or they are unable to leave the room when they need to engage in self-care without explaining or asking permission to leave. Helping faculty understand how they can produce an environment that reduces/eliminates these stressors whenever possible will improve student learning.|

A solid foundation in the general education portion of a student's curriculum is the key to the overall learning outcome. The next thing that needs to improve is the support provided to all students and not just those students who need remediation or are struggling. It is time LSUA truly embraced it's status as a selective admissions 4 year university and quit functioning like a community college seeking to assit those students who didn't make it. Also, we could greatly benefit all involved if we implemented 2 additional courses into the General Education Requirement: 1) A new student/freshman seminar style course where students learned more about how to truly succeed in college. 2) A graduating senior course that focused on the transition from college to the workplace.|

Things such as critical thinking skills, study habits, campus resources, student involvement, etc. can be address in much more detail than a 1 day orientation. Even if a full master's program wasn't offered on campus, simply offering some of the classes and allowing for graduate teaching in some classes or help with some classes would be beneficial. Also, those pursuing one of LSU's new online graduate degrees may be able to be accomodated on campus here at LSUA.|

2. Replace the carpeting in the library, particularly the whole section around the reference collection. The carpeting in this area buckles each and every time we get rain, and I'm afraid somebody is eventually going to trip and fall and break a bone if something isn't done.|
